HN secures prestigious SBRI Healthcare funding

HN has been selected among a handful of innovative companies to receive a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) award. SBRI Healthcare is an NHS England & NHS Improvement funded initiative that provides investment to innovators to develop solutions that solve existing unmet needs faced by the NHS. The programme aims to improve patient care, increase efficiency in the NHS, and support the UK economy.

“We are extremely grateful and will use the SBRI grant to further develop our AI prediction and UEC prevention solution for further system adoption”, said Joachim Werr, Founder and Executive Chair of HN. “We know up to 40% of UEC is preventable and that we can predict 8 out of 10 UEC events well in advance. With close to 6 million people on NHS waiting lists and A&E four-hour turnaround targets hitting an all-time low, we simply need new solutions and this is a recognition by the SBRI programme of our approach”.

Professor Wendy Tindale, Chair of the SBRI Panel and Director of Innovation at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Clinical Director at the NIHR Devices for Dignity MIC, said: ‘The demand for Emergency Care is seeing unprecedented growth. New innovations offer the opportunity to manage emergency care in a very different way, one which is sustainable and which delivers appropriate high quality care in the right setting and at the right time. The funding from this SBRI Competition in Emergency Care will enable exciting developments… and will support innovations which will help to predict and avoid unplanned admissions and to guide healthcare professionals through complex decisions.”

SBRI enables government departments to connect with technology organisations, finding innovative solutions to specific public sector challenges and needs. It aims to use the power of government procurement to accelerate technology development, supporting projects through the stages of feasibility and prototyping which are typically hard to fund. SBRI offers an excellent opportunity for businesses, especially early stage companies, to develop and demonstrate technology, supported by an intelligent lead customer.
