About Us

Michelle is a multifaceted professional with a unique blend of expertise in healthcare, business, and technology. Prior to joining HN’s board of directors Michelle worked as specialty hospital NHS doctor for over a decade. She is partner in a strategy consultancy company, Candesic, who deliver R&D level insight with CEO level clarity across life sciences, healthcare, digital, medtech and education. Over the past twenty years she has led hundreds of due diligence projects for private equity deals, totalling over 30 billion dollars. She manages a global team and delivers bespoke strategy, M&A and operational projects, focused on evidencing improved clinical outcomes alongside commercial return on investment. 

In 2006 she edited a book called ‘The Future of the NHS’ and authored the ‘Big Brain Revolution: Artificial Intelligence – Spy or Saviour’ published in 2019, which has since been recognised as mandatory reading material by global Universities to teach at the intersection of psychology and computer science. She speaks frequently to corporate, nonprofit and academic audiences around the world about brain health, longevity and how to use data to reduce inequalities. She is on the digital council at the Royal Society of Medicine and mentors many female founders.

Tony is former Director General for the Health Service Executive (HSE) and has extensive experience providing healthcare and strategic counsel on several prominent boards. He chairs HN's clinical quality sub-committee and is a Columnist with The Business Post, specialising in health-related topics.

Matea is an academic GP with a frontline practice within Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust's @home and Emergency Department services. With a PhD in health informatics, she brings strong expertise in data analytics to her work as a clinical leader in primary care digital transformation. Serving as an Expert-in-Residence at London Business School, she supports start-ups and scale-ups to translate innovation into safe, scalable, and impactful care.  Matea is a supervisor for the NHS Clinical Fellowship in AI and a mentor for the NHS Innovation Accelerator. 

Matthew was formerly the urgent and emergency care ‘tsar’ for the UK Government, most known for his introduction of the four-hour target. He is also an experienced A&E physician, featuring twice on HSJ’s annual “top 100 clinical leaders”. His leadership roles have included National Director for NHS 111 and Chief Clinical Officer at Capgemini.

Steven is an influential and experienced GP, population health expert and clinical leader. He has a strong background in public health and clinical leadership. Steven practices as a part-time GP and as a freelance health consultant with his own consultancy company, Programmes for Health, supporting a range of healthcare commissioning and provider organisations.
