HN appoints Managing Director Mark England as Chief Executive Officer and expands its leadership team and Board

Mark England has been named chief executive officer (CEO) of healthcare company HN, the company announced today. Dr Joachim Werr, the founder and previous CEO is taking up a new role of executive chair of the HN Board.

The company also announced the expansion of its leadership team and is seeking a Chief Information and Technology Officer as well as a Patient Director for its Advisory Board.

These appointments come two months after the launch of the company’s rebrand and new range of services.

Dr Joachim Werr, Founder and Executive Chair of the HN Board said:

“I’m proud of the HN team – a great deal has been accomplished in a short time frame, but we still have much to do in order to achieve our vision of empowered patients, sustainable healthcare.

As executive chair of the HN Board, my role involves supporting the leadership team to deliver our ambitious growth strategy and working with the HN Advisory Board and our partners. I will continue to drive forward HN’s focus on research and developing evidence-base.

To complete this phase, we are seeking a Chief Information Officer to support the rapid scaling of HN as our services continue to spread across the NHS and beyond. Additionally, to ensure we continue to deliver the best possible person-centred care, we wish to appoint a Patient Director to join the HN Advisory Board.”

England, who joined HN in October 2019 has made a large impact in the direction of the company and has been instrumental in the development of the new services and cultivating strategic partnerships. Prior to working at HN, England was Deputy National Director for Urgent and Emergency Care at NHS England and NHS Improvement. He was also the Managing Director of a First Wave Integrated Care System and has overseen considerable transformation, much of it digitally enabled, within the NHS and beyond.

Werr, an emergency physician, founded HN in 2010 with fellow clinicians and researchers from Sweden’s Karolinska Medical Institute. Werr established the company in the UK in 2015, and worked in collaboration with the Nuffield Trust to launch a large trial, which has shown exceptional outcomes for patients and the NHS. HN has developed into an
award-winning NHS partner and, from March 2020, has been supported by the NHS Innovation Accelerator to scale nationally.
